Veneer Repair Course

The two day Veneer Repair Course is designed to provide guidance and instruction in the repair of broken and damaged veneer prior to finishing.

Students will learn how to patch and replace chipped and missing veneers, stringing lines and bandings, repairing any groundwork as necessary. The course will also look at the restoration of damaged inlays. After carrying out the repairs we will employ the use of stains and pigments to consolidate the work.

Students should bring any damaged pieces of their own to work on but if nothing suitable can be found we can provide some items to work on. Please let us know in advance.

The cost of this course is £180.00

Veneering Course

Our three day course in Veneering follows on from our Veneer Repair Course but may be taken independently. On this course students will examine all aspects of knife cut veneering.

Learn useful and creative ways of applying rich designs to a wide range of furniture. Students will be taught decorative veneering, crossbanding, stringing and inlaying techniques on specially prepared plywood box to take home afterwards. All items will be prepared ready for polishing.

The box will be decorated using all the above techniques including the production of a simple fan inlay. We will look at the veneering of larger items such as a panel or table top and students are welcome to bring along any particular projects that they may wish to tackle.
